San Diego Day 5

DAY 5: We met my dear friend Doug and his lovely wife Jenny at the USS Midway. It is an aircraft carrier that has been turned into a museum .  You can tour all through it and they have a bunch of helicopters and jets on the deck.
One of the coolest things about this place, was all the things the boys could touch, climb in, and mess with.  From cockpits to actual jets, it was really cool.
I totally didnt notice that you can see me (blue shirt), part of Jenny and a blurry Doug in this photo.
Oh and you can see EM and AY.
What a coincidence that there were 5 ejection seats all in a row.  We pulled the handel but nothing happend, maybe next time.

In a car full of boys this happend A LOT!!!!
Half way through the tour of the inside, the boys misbehaved and ended up in the Brigg.  I think out of the entire boat they liked the brigg the best.
There were toilets everywhere in the brigg.  Just out in the open, so Em thought he would take a moment to himself (with everyone watching) Hahahahahaha, gotta love him!

This was one of the longest hallways on the boat.  I LOVE this photo.

The size of the chains for the anchors were enormous.

The rope was so heavy that O could hardly pick it up.

Up on the deck.
Which seemed like we were on a street somewhere because it was so huge.

Thought this jet was cool because the pilots name was Churchill!

O kept climbing under all the planes and would say "take mine picture like dis".
This one was my favorite.
Had to get a photo of of the gang looking at a F-14 Tomcat, now that is a cool jet.

Head on of the Tomcat

"Hey Owie, dont leave without me!!!"

After the tour we (of course) visited the gift shop.  And then had lunch on the back of the boat.

When we had had enough of the jets we headed out to Coronado Island to play at the beach.  It only got to the high 60's while we were there so we didnt really plan on a long beach day.  But, it turned into that once the feet hit the sand.  Boys ended up in the water and in the sand of a couple of hours.
They took turns burying each other in the sand like a they were a sarcophagus.
Absolutly love this of Doug and O.  They made a sand lizard with a reeeeeeally long tail.

Here's the gang at the beach

After Em was a sarcophagus, it was Ay's turn.  He closed his eyes for the photo and O added two more pieces.  Hahahaha, Ay had NO idea.

O loved running from the waves.  He spent most of the time in the sand, but braved the water a bit.

When we were ready to go, Em had gone up the beach toward the street.  Ay soon followed as I shook off towels.  We started up the beach when I realized I could not find O.  At first I didnt think much about it until I realized I honestly couldnt find him.  Doug headed down the beach one way and Greg darted the other.  After about 5 min or so I ran to the lifeguards.  Told them I could not find the little guy and they got a description of him.  They sent it down the beach to the different towers.  A lifeguard and I ran to check the bathroom/showers and went up to the street.  Then they made me go back down to where I could give them some more info.  At this point I lost it, started to cry and felt like I was going to throw up.  Then while I was stuck there I started to worry about Em and Ay because at that point all of us had split up and I didnt know where anyone was.  Then they got a radio call that they had found him.  He had run clear to the next tower.  If you look in the photo of O and Doug in the sand, that is the direction he had run, 1/2 mile or more.  They told me that he wouldnt get into the jeep so the jeep came and got me.  The whole ride there I kept saying," I can not believe he could run this far".  Then I spotted him, walking next to a lifeguard tears just streaming down his face. It is an image that will be forever ingraved in my mind. As the jeep stopped I jumped out and he ran over.  I have never had a better hug in my life.  He wouldnt let go.  A woman came up to me and said that she was a mother and saw O running and crying and just knew something wasnt right.  I will be forever grateful to her.  The jeep took us back and I was so relieved to see that Jenny and Doug had kept a watchful eye on Em and Ay.  Doug later said that he saw O chasing some seagulls.  I think he just couldnt find us with all the people and he just bolted.  Ran as fast as he could.  We headed back to the hotel and I felt sick the rest of the day.  I could have burst into tears at any minute.  Later that night I got a call from Doug.  He was checking up on all of us and making sure that we were all ok.  He put it perfectly when he said "well, I think we all aged a little bit today".
That day was one I will never forget.
