Spring Break part 1

This year I decided to do a NM vacation. I remember going down south when I was a kid and wanted to go again. We packed up and headed out. The 1st little town we went to was called Lincoln. Basically the entire town is a State Monument. It is a little town frozen in time and if you didn't know about it you'd probably drive right though and not even know what you were missing. In the summer 6 of the buildings are open but we went in the off season so we only got to go in 4. Durning the Lincoln County War of 1878-1881 there were 2 families who were fighting, with guns. Each wanted control of the sale of the dry goods in the town. It was dubbed "the most dangerous town in America". It also brought Billy the Kid into the spot light. He was arrested and put into jail there. Billy made a daring excape but in the process killed a guard and a US Marshal. Last year they pulled up the temprory floor (the one that protects the original hardwood floors) and did a luminol test on the floor and found 2 different DNA samples. One from the guard and the other maybe Billy's?! It was a neat little town with a carzy amount of history. Em and Ay thought it was really neat to learn more about Billy the Kid.

I think this is my all time favorite shot of the trip.

The boys in front of the court house. Here is the marker where Robert M Ollinger died, Billy shot him out the window of the 2nd floor when he was running to help J.W. Bell. J.W. was shot inside, fell down the stairs and ran out the back door, where he died just out the back door.
Loved this blue door, so I made the boys sit by it.
This is the little mission in the town.

This is an outside shot of the Courthouse.
Along the hwy

The boys decided to take a potty break, but for some reason none of them wanted to use the outhouse! Ay wouldn't go near it, said it was stinky.
O sat down right here and said "mom cheese!" So I took a picture of course.
This is called a torreon, they stationed men on top to keep a look out.

After we left Lincoln we went to stay in Ruidoso. We were there on a Sunday night and not much was open so we went to the Aquarium. In case you didnt know there was an Auqarium in Ruidoso, I decided to take a picture. This is it, the whole thing.... also known as the fish tanks in Walmart. We hung out at Walmart for an hour because it was the only thing open.
After the Aquarium we headed to the hotel for a nights sleep (I was going to say good nights sleep but that didn't happen. O does not like hotel rooms, he did not sleep very well)
