Last month Tennille asked me to make a cake for all the kids after the Spring Concert. So I made a violin cake that is full size. I had visions of putting it in a case but then thought the lid of the case would be more complicated than I wanted. The outside is fondant, the chin rest, neck, pegs, all of the black pieces are black fondant. The strings are made from pulled sugar. The bridge is also fondantAfter I added the neck and scroll, I realized the scroll was too heavy. So I had to add a tree stump to hold it up. I think it worked and it was a hit, and it was really yummy.
And yes, even though it is pretty we did eat it. There was only one piece left when the night was over.
My friend (who is a real cake artist) had an overload of cakes this week. So she called and asked if I could make some sugar pieces she did not have time to do. A set of drama masks, a graduation cap, a guitar and a snowboarder. The guitar was so fun, I had a photo of the actual one so hopefully the kid will recognize it.
My snowboarder! He turned out so awesome but Im worried that he is too heavy. At any rate it was super fun to make. I had a photo of him as well so it will be a little "mini me".
I even painted the bottom of his board like the actual board.
Then after he was done I realized you wont even see the bottom, hahahaha oh well.
