It Aint Your Normal Fire Drill

I was outside pulling weeds at 9:40 when down the street you hear those words "Middle School on Full Lock Down". Then moments later and explotion that rattles the windows. Then you hear sirens and see Police, Fire and Ambulances responding. In any other instance this would be a mothers worst nightmare, but today it was just a drill. It is sad to think that when I was a kid the worst thing that happened in school was a fire now we have to have fire drills, lock down drills, and this an active shooter drill. Drill or not it was impressive to watch and they did a full scale drill (the only thing missing, which I mentioned to two officers, was 100 screaming parents who are causing mass hysteria).

This is the Fire dept responding because they are reporting casualties.

Moments later you see paramedics and Fire taking in stretcher after stretcher.

Then the drill made my stomach sink a bit and almost got teary eyed when you see the first shooting victim being helped to the awaiting ambulances.
Then another victim and more stretchers, there were 7.
Cops with thier guns drawn (of course they wouldnt be hanging out talking to the newspaper)
Then you see the kids being evacuated, all walking with their hands on their heads. Out of the entire school, it was amazing that Em was in the 1st class to be evacuated (he's the 4th one).
Class after class, walking one block to a safe zone.
Just had to get a photo of all the cops lined up and the ambulances in the background.
This was the view down the street.
It was pretty amazing to see and I think it was done well. I hope they learned a lot of things that they could do to make it safer. I have waited all day to see what Em had to say about it all. I just hope that this will only be a drill and I will never experiance anything like this in "real life".
