Sugar Competition

2 months ago I started a Gingerbread house to enter into the Oklahoma Sugar Arts Show. It has been fun, aggravating, learning, and amazing all at the same time. The hardest part has been keeping my little helpful 3 year old away from the construction and the candy. He LOVES frosting and he LOVES fondant so it really was a trial. I say I started 2 months ago but I did not work every day and I did not work more than 3 or 4 hours at a time. My guess is maybe 50 hours or so, but that is just a guess. So now lets check out the photo doc. of my progress.
O was a great, he had fun playing next to me and steeling candy when I wasnt looking.

Walls up, with sugar windows and photos printed on edible paper, and a little landscapingstarting the siding and porch (made from sugar waffers)
siding done, porch floor (made of sugar waffers), front door constructed.
roof on, turret roof in progress, dormer roofs on
Porch roof and columns Now its time for the fun part. Time to DECORATE :) The house is complete, these are the final photos..... enjoy

Well there she is, all done. It stands21 inches tall, and it is 30 x 20 including the landscape.

I lack the vocabulary to react properly. I'm tempted to swear instead. I can't believe you created that in a home with three active boys, one of them a 3 year old. I can't believe you have to transport it now! I couldn't handle the stress much less the patience & creativity to put it together in the first place. I hope doing it makes you happy & I hope you get a prize!
