A Week Of Chocolate

This week I let my house go, took some time off of work and played with chocolate. There was a chocolate art contest at a local community center here and I thought I'd give it a shot. I have played with fondant and had fun but I have not ever really worked with chocolate, but thought "what the heck". So my house has smelled like chocolate all week and I made a trial piece to get the feel of working with chocolate. We had 4 hours to construct and I finished at the buzzer. every visiable part had to be covered in choc. and everything had to be edible. So here are some shots of my final piece.

Oh and I got 1st place.
Not that is says to much because my competition was a 4yr old, an 11yr old, a 16 yr old and an older lady whos piece consisted of 3 bars of chocolate glued together to form a triangle and some melted choc. things hanging on it. It's not about winning or loosing, I had a blast and now I have a $60- gift cert. to eat at Red Lobster.
